Speaking Final Exam Rubric

This is the grading I will use for the final speaking presentation. The topic is to tell about a comedy movie or TV show you have watched and give your opinion of it. There are 50 points possible.

Content

You followed the assignment

I could understand the narrative

You gave your opinion of the comedy.

You used apppropriate vocabulary from Ch. 5

Delivery

You were prepared, so your speech flowed.

You spoke in complete sentences.

You pronounced end sounds correctly (-s and -ed)

You pronounced syllables and stress correctly.

You spoke for at least two-five minutes.

I could understand you.

Final Exam Study Guide

1. Syllable/stress codes. Eight words from Chapters 3-5.  (16 pts)

2. Intonation Patterns.  (14 pts.)

-Statement (Falling)

-Yes/no question (Rising)

-Choice question (Rising/Falling)

-Wh- question (Falling)–REMEMBER this includes “how” questions

-Tag questions when you agree with the statement (Falling)

3. Word endings.  (12 pts.)

-s/-es ending sounds  /s/, /z/, /iz/  Pg. 11, 48

-ed ending sounds    /t/, /d/, /id/  Pg. 217

4. Lecture Notes.  (50 pts.)

-The lecture will follow the five themes of geography. Pg. 93-94

-Review absolute location. This is two numbers and directions. Pg. 109

-Review the directions and how they are spelled. Pg. 98

-Review the western states and how they are spelled. Pg. 102

5. Use your notes to answer questions about the lecture.    (20 pts.)
